MONTGOMERY COUNTY LAW FOR PAWS GOING ON NOW AT FAIRGROUNDS

The Montgomery County Law For Paws event is going on at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds until 6 pm. Montgomery County Precinct 2 Captain Greg Thomason said the event is to raise funds to start funding a new animal cruelty unit in Montgomery County. He is also asking the public to speak out at Monday’s Commissioners Budget Hearings in the Commissioners Court to get funding for the unit. In the past 5-years Montgomery County, Animal Control has brought in close to 8000 nonlivestock animals that have been abused, dumped, or not fed or watered. One law unknown to many is The Texas Legislature passed a law in 2007 about how and when pets can be restrained using chains, tethers, or other tie-outs. Whether the animal is tethered to a fixed point or to a pulley: … It cannot be “tied out” for more than three (3) hours within a 24-hour period. This event is complete with the Montgomery County Animal Shelter Adoption Unit there with adoptable dogs. Many vendors are there as is a car show with close to fifty vehicles. At 3:30 pm an auction will start to auction off several signed guitars from stars such as Willie Nelson and many others. In addition there are several guns including a custom AR-15 signed by Marcus Luttrell, “The Lone Survivor”.
