Just after 9 pm Thursday Houston Police spotted a stolen Nissan Versa at a hotel parking lot at Interstate 10 and Highway 6. They attempted to stop it when the driver fled. The pursuit went south on Highway 6 to Highway 90 in Sugarland then to the Southwest Freeway. It continued at speeds over 100 miles per hour through downtown Houston. A DPS helicopter then joined the pursuit. Montgomery County units and Liberty County Units attempted to spike the vehicle as it went lane to lane. The chase continued through Harris, Montgomery, Liberty, San Jacinto Counties, and into Polk County. At Livingston, the driver made a u-turn and started back southbound. As they passed through Cleveland units were able to stop him just south of Loop 105 in Cleveland where he was taken into custody. An assortment of drugs was also recovered on the driver. The vehicle had been stolen from a rental company several days ago in West Houston. Charges will be filed in Harris County. In all the pursuit lasted 125 miles. Several Houston Police units had to refuel in Splendora.
