LAW ENFORCEMENT GETS A BOOST FROM MONTGOMERY COUNTY COMMISSIOMNERS

At Tuesdays Commissioners Court Montgomery County Precinct 4 Commissioner Metts made a motion to fund $1.7 million for overtime pay to make Montgomery County safer. Each of the Constables, the District Attorney, and the Fire Marshal will get $200, 000 in overtime funding. Sheriff Rand Henderson will get $500,000. It was for overtime only, not for vehicles or equipment. Commissioner Metts said with everything happening just south of us we need to make sure the citizens of Montgomery County are safe. The overtime is out of funding already available and no additional to the budget. It will be available for one year. It is not a lump sum payment but they are funds available to each agency so law enforcement can work overtime. Constable Hayden said he plans to increase his DWI enforcement in East Montgomery County. Constable Cash plans to use his manpower to step up enforcement on the lake, enforcement of speeders on I-45 in the north part of the county where most they are stopping is speeds between 80 and 100miles per hour. He also will be able to help his Mental Health deputies who at this time have almost no downtime. Sheriff Henderson said some of his funds will help when he starts sending his jailers to the border to help with operations there. This does affect Montgomery County down the road with the illegals coming into this area. Commissioners unanimously passed the motion for the funding.
