Wednesday night the Patton Village City Council held the regular meeting. Then Just before 7 pm went into an executive session to discuss the police department. TMPL Attorney Cagle notified the city council that it would be illegal to hold an executive session and discuss individual officers. Almost three and a half hours later the meeting went back to open session. The city council decided to cut eight police officer positions. Of the thirty-one officers sixteen and reserve unpaid officers. The other fifteen are paid. Of the fifteen at least eight will be cut Thursday morning when the Chief and mayor meet in Patton Village according to sources. When in an open meeting the Mayor was asked how many would be cut she and the council members refused to answer. During the public session, one citizen asked the council to vote to remove the mayor after he discovered that when she first filed to run in the election she signed a sworn statement that she had never been convicted of a felony. He produced Harris County Court records showing that she had been convicted and put on 4 years deferred probation. The final disposal notes show she did not complete her probation within the guidelines. When he asked the mayor for admission to this she did not answer. In addition, other documents were introduced to the council showing two tax liens for over $400,000 from 1999 to current for unpaid highway fines. These are from the overages on traffic violations of which a percentage of each citation collected goes to the State of Texas. The meeting finally ended just before 10:30 p.m. Mayor Pamela Munoz next court date on her Montgomery County indictment is July 26, 2012.
