For the past several months we here at MCPR have had hundreds of complaints on the BNSF Railroad crossing at Waukegan Road. Many have said they have also called both the Commissioners Office and the railroad. With all the new subdivisions and thousands of vehicles a day traveling the road the traffic gets worse. In addition, is the concrete conduit company just down the street whose trucks also must travel the crossing slowly due to the condition most of the traffic slow down is the BNSF Railroad crossing at Waukegan. If motorists do not want to tear their vehicles up they need to slow to close to 5 miles per hour. Still, many who did not know the area have damaged their vehicles, tires, and rims. Several months ago the railroad came through the area put some rock down as they replaced thousands of cross ties down the line. However, nothing else has been done. Besides the roadway, a parent contacted us this week about a bare cable sticking out of the ground which has been there for some time. This crossing is a railroad responsibility, not a Precinct 4 responsibility. If you have damaged your vehicle or just are fed up with the crossing here is one thing you can do.
