A Conroe man this week was sentenced to 55 years in prison by a jury who convicted him of what prosecutors described as a “brutal” attack on his sleeping father. Eric Joshua Gustafson, 37, was found guilty of assault bodily injury, a third-degree felony, by jurors on Wednesday in presiding Judge Phil Grant’s 9th District Court. On Thursday, the jury handed him the decades-long sentence upon learning about his criminal history, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office.
