FIREFIGHTERS RESCUE TREE CLIMBER FROM TREE

At 3 pm this afternoon, a crew from Adrian’s Stump Grinding Service of Cleveland was cutting a tree for a customer on Tram Road and Diamond C in Splendora. The climber was tied off and was about 60-feet up when he cut the top out. As the top fell it caught his rope slamming him upside down against the tree trunk. The line had him pinned to the tree. A neighbor who had been watching the operation quickly ran over and was able to raise the top off the ground using 2×4 timbers in order to loosen the line. East Montgomery County Fire and Porter Fire responded to the scene. Due to power lines between the road and tree, the ladder truck was forced to back into a narrow driveway to deploy the ladder to rescue the man. Once he was brought down he was transported to Kingwood Hospital.
