THIEVES MAKE OFF WITH TRAILER LOADED WITH WATER AND JUICE DESTINED FOR THE ELDERLY

Sometime Tuesday night thieves broke into the property of the East Texas Dream Center on I-69 in Splendora. Before they left they broke into a new shed just recently donated by home depot and used it for mowers that are used by Dream Center Outreach during the summer to mow yards for the elderly. After damaging the door they stole a lawnmower. They then hooked up a 16-foot “Big Tex” trailer loaded with just over a pallet of drinking water and almost a complete pallet of “Honest Strawberry Lemonade Juice”. This was to be used Wednesday morning to be distributed to the elderly in East Montgomery County. The thieves didn’t stop there. Dragging a welding machine across the parking lot they loaded it and stole it also. That welding machine was used for building the new warehouse on the property. Shannon Nelson has been running the Dream Center for 11-years. Her 23-year-old daughter is also now involved and pretty much runs the operation. Last weekend The East Texas Dream Center passed out close to 300 meals and water to the community and then Monday again with water and milk. They still had about a half pallet of water that wasn’t on the trailer. They will load a van up and get as far as they can with what they have. They would have loaded two vans up but recently someone ran into one of the vans which are believed to be totaled. The Splendora Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating the thieves and equipment. Nelson hopes the water and juice which was stolen will go to someone that needs it and not just dumped on the side of the road.
