Just after 3 am Montgomery County Deputies were alerted to a stolen trailer from a carpet business on FM 1314. A citizen followed him and called it in. When the thief identified as Michael Wayne Johnson Jr., 32, of 13988 Calvary Road in Willis, which is the Stowaway RV Park realized he was being followed he ditched his Ford Explorer and the stolen trailer at Gulf Coast Road and FM 1314. He then ran into the woods even though Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputies identified themselves. Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constables K-9, “Kodiak” also responded to the scene and after about 30-minutes was able to locate Johnson in the woods about 600-feet from the road. After refusing to come out of the thick brush Kodiak went in and brought him out. Johnson suffered several bites and was transported to the Montgomery County Jail on charges of felony theft. His bond was set at $10,000.
