FEMALE DIES IN EARLY MORNING 8-VEHICLE CRASH

An eight-vehicle fatal crash just after 2 am Saturday morning has taken the life of a Willis resident and closed I-45 northbound completely for almost 6-hours between FM 830 and FM 1097 in Willis. In addition, two left lanes on the southbound side were closed. According to DPS a brown Nissan Rouge was northbound on I-45 when the driver may have dozed off. The vehicle veered off the northbound lanes just north of the Conroe City Limits and struck the guardrail tearing it completely down. The heavily damaged vehicle then came to stop in the left lane of the freeway. The male and female occupants exited the vehicle and were standing on the inside shoulder when a white Nissan Rogue struck their vehicle. As that vehicle was out of control traveling to the right lane a silver Sonata struck the right rear of the white Nissan Rouge. It was then a white Lexus which was northbound in the left lane saw the crash on the unlit desolate section of freeway and took evasive action. That vehicle went to the left shoulder striking the female passenger from the brown Nissan. The impact threw her over the center divider into the southbound lane. An 18-wheeler then came through hitting the debris and rupturing a fuel line. A blue Honda Accord then stuck one of the disabled vehicles damaging the left side of the Honda and ripping the rear bumper off. Another vehicle came through the debris field puncturing a right-front tire and a Toyota Tundra which also hit debris punctured a radiator. The first unit on the scene was a Montgomery County Deputy who immediately started CPR on the female. North Montgomery County FIrefighters who arrived on the scene took over. MCHD then continued CPR before determining the female was deceased. DPS Troopers contacted Montgomery County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace Dunn who ordered Eickenhorst Funeral Directors to transport the victim to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy. The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office Vehicular Crimes Unit assisted in the investigation.
