About 9 pm Friday MCSO responded to a reported shooting on Forest Green Drive in New Caney. Units arrived on the scene to find a 25-year-old Hispanic male deceased in the front yard. As deputies cleared the house three small children were found in a back room. They were safe and uninjured. Detectives spent the entire night investigating the scene. About 3 am as a detective had just finished an interview with witnesses and gotten out of his SUV, an impaired driver slammed into it and kept going. Units were able to stop that driver about 1000 yards down the road. Detectives say a family disturbance appears to be a motive for the shooting but they had not yet finished interviewing witnesses. They did say charges will be filed on the shooter. Additional details will be posted as available. The suspect is identified as Randy Steven Estrada. He is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on murder charges. His bond is $100,000. The victim’s name has not been released yet. The victim was transported to the Montgomery County Forensic Center for autopsy.
