Just after 1 a.m. Saturday morning Charlie and Kelly Burroughs were sound asleep on the first floor of their Magnolia Home on Becky Lane. Their daughter Morgan was upstairs asleep when she heard the fire alarm. She came down to investigate and as she did she saw the front porch completely orange in flames through the front opaque glass window, She woke Kelly and Charlie up just as the alarm company was calling as the alarm at gone off at the central station. The fire department was already on the line with the alarm company when he answered and told them yes the house was on fire. Magnolia firefighters were dispatched and arrived with heavy fire in the home. Additional manpower and trucks were called in from Needham Road, The Woodlands, and Lake Conroe Fire Departments. The home was built from cedar back in the 1960s on property just across from the old Goodyear BLimp base on I-45 in Spring. In 1988 the home was dismantled into three pieces and moved to Becky Lane. Charlie, Kelly, and Morgan escaped along with their dog but lost everything. Firefighters battled the blaze for close to two hours and had to return Saturday morning for several hot spots that remained. The family has spent most of the day salvaging what they could. Charlie had an extensive gun collection which most was lost as the cases around them melted. Important documents, driver’s licenses, purses, photos, and clothes all completely gone. The Montgomery County Fire Marshals Office investigator responded to the scene and has identified the area the fire started as being the front porch. Possibly electrical but was too early to say do to walls nears collapse in the structure yet. A GOFUNDME has been set up to help the family.
