Paul Harris. A name recognized by Rotarians the world over. It was his vision, after all, that started a worldwide movement for change and community service. Paul P. Harris was born in 1868 in Wisconsin and moved to Vermont at the age of three to live with his grandparents. In 1896 he settled in Chicago and opened a law practice. Four years later he met attorney Bob Frank and was impressed that when they walked around Chicago’s North Side, Frank knew all the shopkeepers and merchants. He had not been on the receiving end of such friendly camaraderie since his childhood in Vermont and he missed it.
