LAST WEEKENDS SHARING IS CARING FOOD DRIVE WAS A HUGE SUCCESS

Last Saturday the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Porter Fire Department, DPS, MCHD, Precinct 4 Constables Office, also the Splendora, Roman Forest Patton Village, Splendora ISD, New Caney ISD and Woodbranch Police Departments and other First responders of East County came together for the 4th annual Sharing is Caring Food Drive. First scheduled in May the date was moved due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This year’s totals were not near the totals of last year’s 24,000 pounds of food but with the pandemic and economy people still came out to help. In all 2500 pounds of food were donated, an additional 10,000 pounds of bleach were donated. Cash donations totaled $18, 168. This all goes to Mission Northeast, a 501 (c) 3 charitable organization located on Loop494 in New Caney. Mission NE started out in a Kingwood Church 25-years-ago and has since grown. In addition to providing food, clothing, and household items, they also build relationships with our clients by getting to know them and helping them above and beyond their basic needs. Non-denominational chapel services are offered in the morning and we provide Bibles and study materials upon request. Each client speaks personally to a Care Partner who listens carefully to his/her needs and offers spiritual support, as well as additional referrals and resources. Mission Northeast is always in need of additional donations.
