Just after 1 a.m., a Splendora Officer was southbound on the I-69 feeder just south of SH 242 when he watched a Ford SUV come off the freeway, cross the feeder, and after running over a one-way sign and telephone box slammed into several culverts and a septic tank on display in front of Bills Hardware. The driver immediately crawled out of the vehicle. He stated he was not hurt but did show signs of intoxication. After a field sobriety test, he was taken for a mandatory blood draw and transported to the Montgomery County Jail for driving while intoxicated. There were two baby seats in the back of the vehicle prompting the officers on the scene to make sure nobody else was in the vehicle.
