SPLENDORA, Texas — Two officers were honored with Life Saving awards for their heroic actions during a drowning incident earlier this year. Earlier this week, Chief Wieghat bestowed Life Saving awards upon Officer Gest and Corporal Saldivar for their actions on April 7, 2024. On that day, they responded to a distress call for a drowning at the old TxDOT Sandpit located at the intersection of FM 2090 and Interstate 69.
