Twenty years have passed since the terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, but the smells, sights and sounds are still there with Vicky Tompkins, like the tragedy just happened. Tompkins was a New York City police detective on 9/11 and she spent three months after the attack working at Ground Zero and the Staten Island Landfill where the debris was taken. She spent hours and hours of sorting and sifting, hoping to bring some at least a little piece of closure to the families of the victims.
