With jazz starting up, the band is preparing their year with festive classics. This helps new students be familiar with this new type of music. “We’re preparing for concert music more geared on the winter side,” Jazz Director Brian Best said. “We’re going to play around the community, but for the spring semester we’re going to do highly competitive festivals. The Bill Watrous Jazz Festival at Sam Houston State University to pick three pieces to perform at the festival.”
