County jail reopens for business

COLDSPRING — After being closed for five months because of damage sustained in the July 2024 hurricane, the San Jacinto County Jail is now able to house prisoners again. According to former Sheriff Greg Capers of the San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Office, the Texas Commission on Jail Standards has reinspected the areas of the San Jacinto County Jail that were damaged during Hurricane Beryl and it has successfully passed inspection.
