MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX — This week’s Veteran is William Bayer, who served in the U.S. Army Air Force from 1944 – 1946. Bayer was a B-26 Marauder pilot, with the plane being a twin-engined medium bomber flown during WWII. William flew 16 missions against German targets with the 344th Bomb Group of the 9th Army Air Force before the end of the war in the European Theater of Operations. Bill turned 100 years old on November 26th, and his name was recently added to The Line at the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Flag Park.
