HOUSTON, Texas – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has deported Marcos Rafael-Medrano, a 29-year-old Guatemalan fugitive, following his conviction for driving while intoxicated in Texas. Rafael-Medrano, who was wanted in Guatemala for robbery, was removed from the United States on October 28. Rafael-Medrano entered the U.S. illegally near Sasabe, Arizona, on May 30, 2023, and was apprehended by the U.S. Border Patrol near North Komelik, Arizona. He was released on his own recognizance on June 1, 2023, pending immigration proceedings, according to ICE.
