MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas — The Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office is anticipating an increase in home heating-related fires as cold weather approaches. MCFMO said many of these fires start in the middle of the night while families are sleeping, highlighting the importance of functioning smoke detectors. The fire marshal’s office cited the National Fire Protection Agency saying heating equipment is the top cause for home fire deaths.
