Willis man sentenced for killing pet dog

A Montgomery County man was sentenced this month to two years in prison for shooting his pet dog dead, claiming he was responding to his wife’s complaints. Dustin Wade Regel, 52, of Willis, pleaded no contest Feb. 5 to the third-degree felony offense of cruelty to a non-livestock animal in presiding Judge Phil Grant’s 9th District Court. Grant sentenced Regel to two years in prison, including 94 days of jail time served, according to district clerk records.
