INTOXICATED DRIVER TAKES OUT POWER IN GRANGERLAND AREA OVERNIGHT

At 11:43 pm Wednesday night, Karina Hernandez, 17, was traveling south on FM 1485 when her vehicle left the roadway at the Caney Creek Cowboy Church. The driver after striking over fifty feet of fencing in a pasture housing two horses she slammed into a utility pole, shearing it off and cutting power to close to 250 residents in the Grangerland area. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene. The driver was not injured. A Montgomery County Precinct 4 DWI unit also responded to the scene and after multiple attempts in her attempting field sobriety tests, she was arrested for DWI. Entergy crews responded to the scene along with TXDOT. FM 1485 was closed for close to 3-hours as lines were removed from across the roadway and power was restored. County Line Wrecker removed the vehicle from the scene.
