On Thursday, 9/23/2021, around 6:45 pm, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Communications received a call from a concerned motorist advising of what they believed to be two subjects in a small passenger car impersonating law enforcement. The concerned motorist advised a grey Chevy Caprice, equipped with red and blue emergency lights was occupied by two Hispanic males who were pulling vehicles over on the side of the roadway in the area of Highway 59 and FM 1314. The concerned motorist advised the suspect vehicle pulled over a white pickup truck, occupied with two young girls inside. Apparently, the girls thought something was suspicious about the incident and ended up driving away; the two suspects were then seen giving each other a “high-five” and laughing. The suspect vehicle then attempted to stop the concerned motorist, who is a Detention Officer with the Harris County Sheriff’s Department. The Detention Officer did not stop, but did call dispatch to report the incident. Precinct 4 deputies were able to locate the vehicle at Old Houston and FM 1314. The driver and passenger told deputies they had purchased the vehicle in Austin and it was an accident the lights came on. Knowing the number of reports and the distance they didn’t buy the story. A search of the vehicle found over $1000 cash in the glove box and a pistol. Precinct 4 deputies arrested Abel Arana, 33, of 2202 Village Way in Dallas. He was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a charge of impersonating a public servant. He has a $1500 bond. They also arrested Gustavo Adolfo Arana, 28, of 2406 N. Frazier, in Conroe. He is also charged with impersonating a public servant and unlawful carrying a weapon. He has a $100 bond on the impersonation and a $750 personal recognizance bond on the weapon charge. Constable Hayden stated, “Thank you to the off-duty Detention Officer who called this in, impersonating law enforcement is a very serious and dangerous offense. I’m also very thankful for the quick response and teamwork from our Deputies as well as the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office”.
