A concerned citizen called a Precinct 4 Sargeant about suspicious people hanging around a Ford F-250 at the New Caney Walmart. Precinct 4 units responded to the parking lot and learned the pickup was freshly stolen from the Willis area. Codi Ryan Laurence, 24, of 228 County Road 3611 in Splendora was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and booked into the Montgomery County Jail. His bond was set at $20,000. Laurence is well known to law enforcement officials. After several arrests for speeding warrants in the City of Splendora, he was also arrested on January 15, 2020, and again on February 9, 2020, for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Again on May 16, 2020, for a felon in possession of a firearm. Then in August of 2020 for assault family violence. On February 24, 2020, he was given 120-days in the Montgomery County Jail by Judge Maginnis. However, on March 18, 2020, he was released stating on the order “outstanding jail time is credited by time served. Defendant to be released immediately.” Then on April 12, 2021, for the family violence case he was sentenced to 195 days in the Montgomery County Jail after it was reduced from a felony to a misdemeanor.
