Conroe Noon Lions hear from 9/11 survivor Ted Bell

Remembering 9/11, Conroe Noon Lions Club welcomed Ted Bell, a 9/11 survivor this past Wednesday. Twenty years ago, Ted and his family lived, worked and attended school in lower Manhattan. Their whole world was within one block of the World Trade Center. Ted worked on the 39th floor in a building across the street from the Twin Towers. His window view was the massive walls of the buildings. It was a normal day at work as he hosted a meeting when there was an announcement to evacuate. Not really knowing the nature of the situation, Bell picked up a small camera he had been using in his meeting and began filming the commotion outside his window. He shared the raw and unreleased video footage, which took every Lion back to that dreadful day in 2001. During his video, you hear him talking on the phone to his wife who had called out of concern, and then you see the top of the second tower explode as you witness what we all know now was the second plane making contact. That’s when he left the building and eventually connected with his wife and children. His description of the buildings crumbling around them was unimaginable. The entire story brought a very personal perspective to a day that we will never forget, and we are thankful for Ted and the lessons he shared: 1) You need other people to help you out when you don’t have anything; 2) Respect firefighters, police officers and EMS, as they are ALWAYS going to come when something happens.
