After touring the major Montgomery County Hospitals yesterday and seeing how bad things had gotten he knew something needed to be done. What he found on his tour were beds lined up in hallways of hospitals, In some cases, closets had been turned into rooms. Ambulances outside waiting upwards of five hours to unload patients. Talking to administrators he learned the biggest problem was not enough staff members. Last year Governor Abbott approved funds for all the hospitals in the state to help with additional medical staff. This year it has been hung up in session as no voting can take place due to many leaving for Washington D.C. The funds will come out of the ARPA Funds which were given to the county by the Federal Government. The American Rescue Plan delivered over $350 billion to eligible state, local, territorial, and Tribal governments to respond to the COVID-19 emergency and bring back jobs.
