Several deputies today are enforcing the “Move Over or Slow Down Law on Hwy 59. The Move Over/Slow Down law requires motorists to move over a lane or slow down to 20 mph below the posted speed limit when approaching law enforcement, emergency, TxDOT, or utility vehicle or a tow truck with its flashing lights activated on the side of the road. Drivers must reduce their speed by 5 mph on a roadway with a speed limit of 25 mph or less. Drivers who fail to give emergency and work crews space to safely do their jobs face fines of up to $2,000.
