GRIMES COUNTY FATHERS DAY WILDFIRE- The current situation of this fire is 5800 acres have been affected with potential to grow, we have estimated as of this morning 35% containment. Our main priority at this time is protecting the lives and structures of the community thru mandatory evacuations and proactive structure protection. We do believe that we have lost upwards of 30 homes, but have been able to prevent damage to more homes than that have been lost. The Texas Forestry Service is in the process of bringing in aid in the form of both equipment and personnel. We currently have upwards of 20 agencies that consist of both local and state fire personnel working the fire. A shelter for those affected has been put in place at the Navasota high school. The Houston ASPCA has also put in a shelter at the Navasota livestock auction.
