`At 7:45 Friday evening, an 18-wheeler was parked on the northbound shoulder of I-45 just south of the Montgomery County line when another 18-wheeler for unknown reasons left the freeway main lanes and slammed into the rear of the parked 18-wheeler. The driver of the striking 18-wheeler was transported in critical condition to HCA Conroe Hospital. The driver who was hit was transported to the same hospital in stable condition. When the crash first happened the striking driver was trapped in the truck. Passerbys were able to get him out, The striking trucks’ fuel tanks and oil pan ruptured spilling fuel and oil across the freeway. The left shoulder is the only lane getting by. For a Friday night, northbound traffic is backed up for miles. HAZMAT International expects the cleanup is expected to take most of the night.
