Effective: 2021-05-25 15:12:00 CDT Expires: 2021-05-25 19:00:00 CDT Urgency: Expected Severity: Severe Certainty: Possible Target Area: Austin; Brazos; Burleson; Colorado; Fort Bend; Grimes; Houston; Inland Harris; Madison; Montgomery; Polk; San Jacinto; Trinity; Walker; Waller; Washington; Wharton FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING The Flash Flood Watch continues for * A portion of southeast Texas…including the following counties…Austin…Brazos…Burleson…Colorado…Fort Bend Grimes…Houston…Inland Harris…Madison…Montgomery Polk…San Jacinto…Trinity…Walker…Waller…Washington and Wharton. * Until 7 PM CDT this evening * The flash flood watch continues through 7 pm. Showers and thunderstorms some with heavy rain will be moving through the area. Rainfall rates of 2 to 3.5″ per hour will be possible and with the wet soils will quickly produce extensive runoff. Streets will easily flood in these heavy downpours. Rivers and creeks will respond quickly and persons near the creeks and bayous should monitor the weather closely through early evening and be prepared in the event warnings are issued. Widespread 1 to 2 inch amounts are on tap and isolated amounts of 3 to 6 inches are possible. The band of storms held together coming into the region from the northwest and will help to bringing widespread rainfall and could eventually help to focus the heavy rains late this afternoon. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to Flash Flooding. Flash Flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
