A 75-year-old Kansas man is in jail after his DNA traced him to a 1983 Montgomery County cold case murder that a serial killer had been convicted of in 1986. Thomas Elvin Darnell is charged with capital murder in the death of Laurie Marie Purchase, a missing woman from Houston, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
