Robin Montgomery: Recognition of Tejano contributions to Texas independence a part of Feb. 27 Conroe celebration

On March 2, 1822, the Texas Association took birth in Nashville, Tennessee. It was on Sam Houston’s birthday and he was a member. The Association sent a representative to Mexico City which resulted, by 1834, in the birth of Robertson’s Colony in Texas thanks largely to initial support from a distinguished Tejano, the label given to Mexicans born in Texas.
