Martial arts schools around the region are teaming up to fight an uptick in human trafficking with free self-defense classes Saturday. “Pay attention and be aware,” said Tisha Butler, ower and head instructor at The Way Family Dojo in Magnolia. “It is a lot of fun to kind of learn the cool ninja moves that can help you in a situation, but it is far greater to never have to use self-defense. Your best self-defense weapon is to be aware, to pay attention, to put your phone away, and look at what is going on around you so that you never end up in a situation where you have to use self-defense.”
