Kenn Franklin, the New Caney ISD Superintendant who suddenly resigned has been booked into the Montgomery County Jail. He is charged with theft of $30,000 to $150,000 and tampering with a government record to defraud or harm. Franklin who has a home in Tyler was living in an RV in New Caney suddenly resigned stating personal reasons in mid-November of 2020. The Texas Rangers were investigating him for an extended period. It was found that he was turning in mileage vouchers for work for the district but in actuality was driving to his home in Tyler and to visit his son in college out of state. During this time Franklin was drawing a salary of $355,000. Franklin came to New Caney in 2009 after being a superintendent in Marshall ISD and Marfa ISD.
