On December 25, 2020, at about 5:55 PM, deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 9500 block of Broadway Avenue in the Tamina Community of Conroe, Texas in reference to a shooting call. Upon arrival, the victim, Tashona Jones, 36, was found in the residence, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. During the investigation, it was learned Ms. Jones was involved in a physical altercation with another female, later identified as Phylunda Theragood 41, at the residence when a firearm was displayed. A struggle over control of the firearm ensued, during which time the firearm discharged, striking Ms. Jones. Ms. Theragood was placed into custody for two outstanding warrants out of San Jacinto County. The charges there was a motion to adjudicate guilt/ felony and bail jumping/failure to appear. This is still an active investigation by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and all others affected by this incident.
