A man house sitting in New Caney on Wednesday night fatally shot who he says was an attempted intruder carrying a hammer. Around 9:45 p.m., Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 23700 block of Panky Lane about a burglary in progress. Once the deputies arrived, the caller told them he was house sitting for a friend and had heard loud banging at the back and proceeded to go check, according to the sheriff’s office.
