CRASH IN SPLENDORA

Just after 1 am Saturday a driver was traveling southbound on Business 59 at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his Chevrolet Suburban. He ran off the road, broke off a highway sign, went through the Shell Station hitting a support column and destroying their fuel tank vent system. He then struck a pickup in the parking lot and went back up onto Business 59 where the truck came to rest. The driver from Coldspring then ran into the Shell Station where he tried to hide. However, he then ran out and ran north on Business 59 where he was taken down by a Patton Village Officer. The driver had no insurance and an expired driver’s license. DPS performed a field sobriety test which he completed successfully. He was released with several citations. A warrant will be issued at a later date for failure to stop and give information.
