Robin Montgomery: Heritage Museum’s ‘Gathering of Nations’ event to celebrate National Native American Heritage Month

On Nov. 14, the Heritage Museum, in conjunction with the City of Conroe, will celebrate National Native American Heritage Month with a gala event entitled “Gathering of the Nations.” From 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., exhibits will be on display in the museum while tents and canons will occupy the grounds stretching to the neighboring Candy Cane Park. The event is, in part, a final farewell salute to recently deceased mayor of Conroe, Toby Powell, whose vision for Conroe embraced a fondness and understanding of indigenous history and culture on a broad scale.
