Soil preparation for spring vegetable gardens can be started now. As long as your soil is dried out enough to work, get it ready for spring. If you wait until spring garden fever hits, it is usually too wet to work the soil. Preparing the soil now will allow time for lime, manures, or other incorporated ingredients to have time to react with the soil and to take effect before spring planting. Leaves incorporated now will be almost decomposed by spring and ready to benefit next year’s crops.
