WILLIS FATAL HOUSE FIRE UPDATE

Firefighters have found the body of a female believed to be in her 60’s after extinguishing a house fire on the shores of Lake Conroe in the 14000 block of Lakepoint in Corinthian Point Subdivision. At 4:55 am North Montgomery Fire was dispatched to a house fire which reported by a resident who described the fire as being across Lake Conroe. The person reporting it said they saw a column of smoke and after retrieving binoculars determined it was a house fire. Shortly after other calls from neighboring homes started to come in. Units arrived with a two-story home with fire out the roof. Firefighters were able to enter the structure to search for victims but as they got to the second floor the roof and flooring began to collapse. A second alarm was then pulled. Currently, the fire has been brought under control with many hotspots. They have not determined if the resident was home, however, a vehicle was in the garage. The Montgomery County Fire Marshal is on the scene. Lakepoint Drive is closed. North Montgomery, Montgomery, New Waverly, and Conroe Fire Departments are on the scene. Due to the collapse and partial collapse of the structure, North Montgomery County Fire had to bring the Technical Rescue trailer to the scene with jacks and cribbing to shore up the structure so they can make the recovery of the victim. Montgomery County Justice of the Peace Wayne Mack is responding to the scene for the inquest. Investigators will spend the day digging the debris to find a cause.
