At 7 pm with wet roads and heavy traffic on I-45 North near The Woodlands, an 18 wheeler was northbound when a vehicle struck his trailer causing the truck to jackknife. The driver was able to partially bring it back under control but traveled across three lanes of the freeway, crashed through the guard rail, crossed four lanes of heavy traffic on the feeder, and crashed into Papas BBQ Restaurant in Oak Ridge North. The driver suffered minor injuries. The driver of the vehicle that struck it fled the scene, however, Oak Ridge North Police located him near SH 242 and the shoulder of the road, his truck disabled. He was found to be intoxicated and was arrested. . No other vehicles were struck. South Montgomery County Fire Department responded and requested Woodlands HAZMAT to dam up the leaking diesel fuel. The restaurant was closing for the evening and employees were prepping inside for tomorrow. Milstead Hazmat responded to the scene to clean the fuel, Milstead Heavy Duty removed the truck from the scene. The feeder will remain with two lanes closed through the night as the hazmat teams work to remediate the area.
