TWO 18-WHEELERS COLLIDE IN WILLIS

Just before 11 pm, Thursday, Walker County issued an attempt to locate on an 18-wheeler dry cement transport truck traveling south on I-45 from Huntsville. Before Montgomery County could broadcast the attempt to locate the 18-wheeler struck another 18-wheeler parked on the side of I-45 just inside the Montgomery County Line. The driver of the tanker was transported to HCA Conroe Trauma Center in critical condition. The cab of his truck was completely ripped away from him in the crash. The 18-wheeler that was hit was legally stopped on the shoulder with flashers activated. The tanker slammed into the left rear of the trailer ripping both tires off of it and pushing the trailer to the side. The tanker continued across the median where it came to rest partially on the feeder. Debris from the crash littered the freeway causing lanes to be shut down. DPS is investigating the crash and what led up to it. New Waverly Fire assisted North Montgomery County Fire on the scene. The trucks were removed by Miller Wrecker Service.
