School districts in Montgomery County have had in-person classes for several weeks this fall and while COVID-19 cases have been reported, rates at local campuses remain low. The Conroe Independent School District is the largest in the county with a student population of nearly 65,000 students, and another 8,000 faculty and staff. It is the largest employer in Montgomery County and several times larger than New Caney ISD which is the next biggest district and has 15,360 students, according to the Texas Education Agency.
