On May 19, 2019, at 12:15 am Terry Mcardle was getting off work as a security guard at The Woodlands Mall. She was northbound on Pinecroft when Terry Gilbert Lafon, 36, of 17128 Beaver Springs in Houston who was eastbound on Lake Woodlands ran the red light and crashing into Mcardle. Lafon then fled the scene. A good samaritan followed the Lafon as long as he could. The following day Lafon’s abandon Honda passenger car was found abandon in River Plantation. Mcardle was transported to the hospital where her condition deteriorated and she passed away. Montgomery County Sheriff’s Detectives began investigating and were able to place Lafon as the driver of the vehicle. He was subsequently arrested and charged with an accident involving injury or death and intoxication manslaughter. Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Andrew James who is over the Vehicular Crimes Unit prosecuted the case. Yesterday, Judge Patty Maginnis sentenced Lafon to 20-years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for the intoxication manslaughter charge. His other charge which was changed to failure to stop and render aid will run concurrently with the intoxication manslaughter case.
