– Willis High School student and illegal alien Jose Juan Sanchez, 18, was arrested Friday afternoon for “failure to stop and render aid,” in connection with an accident that killed his passenger, another WHS student. Officials said the deceased, the suspect, and other students were involved in an altercation during the school day that continued after school. The victim missed his school bus and asked Sanchez for a ride. Preliminary investigation indicates the second vehicle pulled up beside the victim’s friend’s vehicle and someone inside the second vehicle threw a pocket-size mirror at Sanchez’s vehicle. Sanchez reportedly accelerated, at which time the victim opened his door for unknown reasons. He was not wearing a seatbelt and fell out. The school bus traveling behind the first vehicle swerved to the left to avoid hitting the victim but was unable to do so. After the accident, Sanchez fled and was later arrested. He did not have a driver’s license and was found to be in the US illegally.
