After the Humane Society requested an increase from $120,000 a year to $300,000 a year to run and staff the Humane Society housed in the Conroe Animal Shelter built in February 2008. The request was denied and after negotiations halted it was decided they would move out this weekend. Effective September 21, 2009, the Animal Control of Conroe will fall under the Conroe Police Department. A director and employees are still being selected by the Conroe Police Chief. Rumors of the animals being put down surfaced on Friday and Saturday morning all the animals had been adopted out after a mass pouring in of the community. The Humane Society will continue Spay and neuter operations in south Montgomery County. For more information go to www.hsmc-tx.org.
