Montgomery County Animal Services (“MCAS”) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the Touchstone Award from Best Friends Animal Society (“BFAS”) for the highest reduction in shelter killing (with an annual intake over 10,001) and becoming no-kill by BFAS standards. Best Friends recognizes animal welfare partners across the country each year for outstanding work to create compassionate, animal-friendly communities through increased lifesaving and progress toward no-kill. The award was based on national shelter data and work from the calendar year 2019 (compared to 2018).
