After splitting non-district matchups the past two years in season openers, Mayde Creek and Conroe were both eager to take the rubber match Friday night at Rhodes Stadium. It was the homestanding Rams who would come out on top, earning a 24-14 victory. It was the first game for Mayde Creek head coach Brian Randle, who took over the program during the offseason after four years at Alief Taylor. Getting on the field was extra sweet for both teams after the season was delayed a month due to the coronavirus pandemic.
